Today, biomass-fired power production is still in its infancy, in Greece.
Nevertheless, an investment in biomass-fired power production is thought to be one of the most profitable ones, in the renewable energy sector.
As far as solid biomass is concerned, the Greek Operator of Electricity Market compensates power producers with 0.15-0.20€ for each kWh produced, depending on the installed capacity of the plant, the type and the origin of the solid biofuel.
As far as biogas is concerned, the Greek Operator of Electricity Market compensates power producers with 0,09945-0,22€/kWh, making such an investment attractive because the raw material of biogas can be found in a considerably low price since waste are usually used to produce biogas through anaerobic digestion.
The main advantage of biomass/biogas-fired power plants is that the electricity generation is constant and it is not affected by the local weather and climate.
GEPEM undertakes:
- the orientation and briefing of prospective clients on biomass powered plants in Greece and how a biomass-fired power plant is developed
- the induction of investors in the Greek legislation related to the renewable energy sector
- the stage of development and licensing of such a project, from the phase of pre-feasibility study until the construction phase
- In addition, GEPEM offers services related to the search of the raw material (biomass) and the treatment and/or utilization of the waste coming from a solid biomass-fired power plant
