Electricity production from geothermal power plants possesses a minor percentage compared to the total electricity generation, due to its many environmental and technical problems which are needed to be solved.
Despite this fact, Greece has an enormous potential of geothermal energy because of its active extensional tectonics and volcanic activity. Moreover, the Greek Operator of Electricity Market compensates power producers with 0,09945-0,15€/kWh, a price which is considered fairly attractive by the market.
In addition, the exploitation of geothermal energy is not restricted only to power generation but also to agriculture and aquaculture to boost production and optimize production conditions.
GEPEM undertakes:
- the orientation and briefing of prospective clients on geothermal energy in Greece and how a geothermal plant is developed
- the induction of investors in the Greek legislation related to the renewable energy sector
- the exploration of low enthalpy geothermal fields
- the stage of development and licensing of such a project, from the phase of pre-feasibility study until the construction phase
