Ηydropower has played a significant part in the energy policy of the Greek electricity system for decades. This happens because this technology is environmental friendly, reliable, cost-effective and efficient since Greece has a high potential in hydropower.
Hydropower plants are considered small when their capacity is below 5MW and are thought to be an attractive investment because of their low O&M costs, their easy connection to the electricity network and their high efficiency when compared to other renewable energy technologies. Moreover, the Greek Operator of Electricity Market compensates power producers with 0,08785€/kWh.
GEPEM undertakes:
- the orientation and briefing of prospective clients on hydropower in Greece and how a hydropower plant is developed
- the induction of investors in the Greek legislation related to the renewable energy sector
- the stage of development and licensing of such a project, from the phase of pre-feasibility study until the construction phase
